The Truth Project Session 5 follow-up 5.3 Audio/podcast Intelligent Design

Why get a definition of intelligent design from newspaper sources and others who are biased against it from the beginning? Here's Todd Wilken interviewing one of the leaders of the movement, Dr. William Dembski:

Directly to the point, does it matter if you believe in creation or evolution? This question is addressed by Dr. Nathan Jastraam, first made famous by being a vicar at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, Minnesota, now serving at Concordia University, Wisconsin.

The definition of intelligent design is very simple. It means "THE MAGIC MAN DID IT." It's an extremely childish idea, and it has nothing to do with science.

Creation, also known as magical creation, is a religious belief for scientifically illiterate people who are terrified of reality.

Evolution is not a belief. It's a scientific fact backed up with mountains of powerful evidence from many branches of science.

People don't "believe" in evolution. They accept the truth of evolution because it's an idea that's been tested for 150 years and it's passed every test.

Does it matter if people accept the facts of evolution? Yes it does matter very much. A person can't call himself educated unless he understands how his species developed.

I skipped the first audio because everyone knows Dembski is a compulsive liar.

I watched the 2nd audio which was interesting. Dr. Nathan Jastraam talked about the religious implications of evolution. If I understood him correctly, his point was evolution = no god. He suggested that Christians who accept both evolution and Mr. God have not thought thru what evolution means to the god idea.

I agree with Jastraam. If a person accepts the facts of evolution, then he knows people are just one of the modern ape species, and there's nothing special about us (except our larger evolved brains). Most certainly, if evolution is true, then we are not made in the image of Mr. God. Also, if all the species living today developed from ancient common ancestors, then obviously Mr. God had nothing to do with the creation of life. A Christian who accepts evolution is left with a god who has done virtually nothing. A worthless god is as good as no god at all.

What Dr. Nathan Jastraam doesn't bother to talk about is whether or not the evidence shows evolution to be true. Perhaps he doesn't want to talk about the fact that virtually every biologist in the world loves evolution, because modern biology wouldn't be the same without the evolution idea, and because the evidence really is massive and extremely powerful. Biologists who compare DNA sequences of different species can't deny what they can see with their own eyes. They know evolution is a fact because they can see undeniable evidence for evolutionary relationships.

So Christians who desperately want to continue believing in Mr. God, despite new scientific discoveries being made every day, have a good reason to fear evolution, and their fear is obvious when they try to dumb down science education when it conflicts with their religion.

Would a world without religion be a bad thing? To answer this question just look at Sweden, which is mostly atheist, and has much less crime than the religious USA, and they have a very happy population.

Don't feed the trolls, even though this troll actually listened to one of the podcasts. It shows an abnormal level of maturity, compared to the usual level of discourse I get whenever I mention ID.
